Easy to register for event

I joined one of their investor education workshops recently. It was pretty easy to sign up on their site. Everything went smoothly, got my confirmation right away. The workshop itself was informative, helped me understand more about equity investment stuff. No complaints, it was a good experience.

Good networking, high fees

I attended an investor networking event last month and found the connections valuable. The quality of founders presenting was pretty good, and I even followed up with one for a potential seed stage capital opportunity. The registration for the event was straightforward online. My main feedback would be on the cost; while the networking is solid, the event pass discount I got via email still felt a bit steep for a half-day session. It would be nice if they had more accessible pricing or perhaps a tiered membership that included some event access without needing separate tickets.

Fantastic Pitch Session!

Wow, I just participated in one of their pitch sessions and it was fantastic! The startups were incredibly innovative, and the whole setup was so professional. I've been looking for solid angel investment opportunities in Texas, and they truly deliver. The team was super organized, making the whole process of evaluating the companies really efficient. I'm already looking forward to the next one and definitely plan to explore more of their syndication services. This is an incredible resource for anyone serious about investing in the Texas startup ecosystem!

Hey, thinking about joining. Is there any way to get a discount on the membership fee, or are those pretty much set?

N Nathan Wright 2 days ago
Sometimes they do membership fee waivers, but it's usually for specific promotions, like if you get an invite. Don't think they just offer general discounts.

Yeah, I got in on an early bird registration once for an event, which included a membership deal. Worth keeping an eye out during things like SXSW or fall pitch season for those kinds of offers.

How legit is this group really? I've heard good things but want to make sure it's not some fly-by-night thing.

A Amber Jackson 1 week ago
They're totally legitimate, been around for a while connecting investors with Texas startups. Not like a scam or anything.

They're a proper investment organization, not just some random group. They do a lot to support the Texas startup scene and their vetting process for startups is pretty thorough, so that should tell you something.

I'm a founder, not an investor. How easy is it to actually get in front of their angels? Do I need a referral or something?

B Barbara Lopez 4 days ago
You can submit a pitch deck directly through their website, that's how a lot of founders get seen. They also do pitch sessions.

R Robert 3 days ago
They have 'founder office hours' sometimes, which can be a good way to get on their radar. But yeah, submitting the deck is the official route. No special referral needed from what I know, but obviously networking never hurts.

How does TX Angel Coalition compare to, say, CTAN or Houston Angel Network? Are they pretty similar in terms of what they offer?

L Linda E. 1 week ago
They're all pretty similar in their core mission – connecting angels with startups in Texas. Each one tends to have its own flavor or focus though.

S Sandra E. 1 week ago
I think TX Angel Coalition really emphasizes the 'Texas ecosystem' broadly, whereas some of the others might be more localized to their specific city. They all offer pretty much the same types of services like investor networking and due diligence, but the startup pipeline might differ slightly.
